 Spotlight on Values - Meet the Winners
 
 Thank you for your nominations! Please keep nominating employees, physicians and volunteers who you feel are a great example of our values. Each month we take the nominations received and a nomination committee selects one person for each of the values.
 Meet the Monthly Spotlight Winners:
  
 
 The winner for COMPASSION is:  Jason Jampoler.
 "Jason Jampoler of Traer, emergency department nurse, was recognized for the value of compassion. Nominated for his caring approach to a frightened young patient, Jason calmed the patient’s fears. His ability to make the patient laugh and put her at ease made her test much easier."
 
 The winner for ENTHUSIASM is:  Sarah DeVore.
 "Sarah DeVore of Jesup, Walk-In Clinic nurse practitioner, was recognized for the value of enthusiasm. Nominated for her positive approach to her work, Sarah brightens the mood in her clinic. It is evident that Sarah loves her work and cares about her coworkers and patients."
 
 The winner for EXCELLENCE is:  Joni Poppe.
 "Joni Poppe of Plainfield, observation center nurse manager, was nominated for the value of excellence. Nominated for her leadership skills, Joni organizes staff all over the facility and efficiently delegates tasks. She maintains a high standard of care in her own department and her patients appreciate her and look forward to seeing her when they come in for treatment."
 
 The winner for INNOVATION is:  Janet McCullough.
 "Janet McCullough of Waverly, pharmacy technician, was nominated for the value of innovation. Nominated for her leadership in creating a manual for the surgery complex, Janet put in extra hours to make sure staff had the information they needed. Her efforts have lead to more efficient patient care."
 
 The winner for INTEGRITY is:  Ginger Schild.
 "Ginger Schild of Clarksville, surgery complex nurse, was nominated for the value of integrity. Nominated for her hard work, Ginger takes on extra projects and makes sure they are done right. Her coworkers appreciate her dedication and knowledge. "
 
 The winner for LEADERSHIP is:  Marianne Nielsen.
 "Marianne Nielsen of Greene, medical/surgical nurse, was nominated for the value of leadership. Nominated for her problem solving skills, Marianne leads by example. She does an excellent job of presenting new information and encouraging staff to learn new things to provide the best care for patients."
  

 Meet the Physican Spotlight of the Quarter:
  Dr. Todd Shover - Second Quarter 2010

WAVERLY, Iowa - Dr. Todd Shover, emergency, has received Waverly Health Center’s (WHC) medical staff Spotlight on Values award. Nominated by WHC staff members for his dedication to patients, Dr. Shover is an example of WHC’s values in action.

Dr. Shover is recognized at WHC for outstanding care. "He treated my mother thoroughly and with compassion at all times. I noticed him patting her shoulder. I'm sure he doesn’t even realize he does it, but it is very reassuring for patients," stated one nominator. "He also made sure I understood what was going on, which was appreciated."

Dr. Shover’s care for his co-workers is also recognized. "He treated the nurse with respect when he spoke with her," said the nominator. "Waverly Health Center is lucky to have a caring physician like Dr. Shover!"

Dr. Shover received his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University and his medical degree from Des Moines University.
